Homeward Bound

For those of you in DC with busy social calendars, save some space for me!

I will be in the area June 18-30 working, then until July 4 relaxing. Although I will be in the Philippines and Thailand July 5-August 2, I'll be back August 3-6 preparing for the move to Ann Arbor, my new home for the next two years (except summers, i guess). Let me know when you want to meet up and as soon as I get a cell again I will let you know the number (probably not until August, though). Hope to see you soon!

Transition Pains

As a lovely reminder that life is unpredictable, my team transition plan was thrown to the wind yesterday when I found out that Lulu, my teammate who was supposed to ease the team through transition while both Sagrario and I were out of the country, is taking a new job starting June 1st and, at best, can help us out two days a week until the end of July. Needless to say, 2 days a week is hardly enough to keep the program running for the next few months. So, in an unexpected turn of events, Sagrario will be coming back to Mexico next week and I will press on to hire not 1, but 2 teammates in my last three weeks. Not what I was hoping to do with the last of my time here, but I'm hopeful someone great will turn up.

If you know of someone who speaks spanish and english and has direct experience with young people, let me know and I'd be happy to send along the job description!

Where have I been?

Sorry for the long time no write. It has been an intense few weeks given that:
1) I have very little time left in Mexico and a lot that I'd like to see
2) My other half at work left for two months in the US, so I'm trying to do the 1000 last-minute to-d0s with one less person to help out.
3) Three cousins came to visit for three weeks from the Philippines and my mom came for a week, too.

I don't know whether to nap and catch up on sleep and prepare for the coming few weeks of craziness or work as much as I can to plow my way through all of the things I'm hoping to accomplish in the short time I have left. I can't believe that it's been over a year and a half and that in no time I will be back in the US getting ready for grad school!

I'll try to post a bit about my recent travels, visits, dramas as well as my reflections and preparations for the coming months (if I have the time to think ahead) little by little.
