One down

I just had my Michigan interview. I think it went pretty well, but I'm a bit too tired to analyze. My interviewer said I'm a strong candidate. Problem is, now I just have to sit and wait for decision time to come around. In the meantime, I have some essays to wrap up for UNC.

3 out of 5 and counting

I just wanted to shout to the world (or at least my adoring fans) that I have received 3 invitations to interview so far out of my 5 applications. Michigan (scheduling), Maryland (Dec 13) and UNC (Jan 3), get ready!

Now I just have to prepare for the interviews. Any advice?

Dia de los Muertos

I got back to Mexico just in time for Dia de los Muertos. It's technically a holiday, but we had lots of work to do, so I just got a chance to celebrate at night. Here are some of the fiestas we saw around town including some ofrendas (altars to dead loved ones with favorite foods and momentos). Mexican traditions, thuough, are mixing some with Halloween and the holiday seems to be getting more and more materialistic.

Notes: 1. balloons in the plaza in Puebla, 2. the ofrenda at the town hall in Puebla, 3. eggs decorated for the occasion, 4. scenes from a Lila Downs concert in Puebla.
