Vacationing in Mexico

I've been a bit out of commission the last week, but don't worry, it was for a good cause. Here are some highlights from my week off (yup, that's right, a week off work without any out of country travel). Deepak (my first visitor!) arrived Saturday midday and we alternated taking it easy and sight seeing. Here's your chance to see Mexico City and Guanajuato through our eyes:

2-11 Rest and Munich
2-12 Zócalo and Centro Historico including murals at the Palacio Nacional and Bellas Artes

2-13 Everything's closed mondays, so we took the Turibus around through Polanco, Condesa, Zona Rosa, and Centro Historico with some stops here and there.

2-14 A taste of the famous Museo de Anthropologia. An excellent stop on the tour of Mexico.

2-15 Trek to Guanajuato

2-16 Exploring the historic mining town of Guanajuato, Guanajuato. A view at night, modern elements of a colonial town, and callejon de beso, a local landmark.

2-17 back to Mexico city just in time to explore a local cantina (kinda). Can't beat the 2 x 1 special on drinks!

2-18 A worthy birthday spent exploring the markets and plazas of Coyoacan. At night, a little birthday get-together with food for the week.

2-19 Cleaned up house, wandered the chaos of the Bosque de Chapultepec on a sunday, lunched and then a sad farewell. Until next time....
